Tafehemoana II
The Government of Niue sought a boat to replace their existing vessel which was used for transporting people and goods from cargo ships onto the island. The proposed new 13.45 metre boat was put out for tender at the beginning of 2010 with Profab securing the winning the bid.
Tafehemoana II was designed specifically for her purpose and the contract was to build the design that their Infrastructure Department had already sourced and approved. Among other specific design specifications; the vessel would need to be tied along side ships while being loaded (hence the protective rim of tyres running around the bow and stern and down the port and starboard sides).
